FEATURES // ELISHA MICAH
Leilani: Welcome, and how are you?
EM: I'm also embraced in the warmth of my blessed life, thank you for having me, and how are you Leilani?

Leilani: Introduce yourself and tell our audience what you do?
EM: My name is Elisha Micah, Oakland native with non-union acting, modeling and voice over artist roots extending from theatrical plays and dramatic readings to performing numerous self created spoken word pieces as a featured artist in Hollywood, San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento. Also the author of soon to be released in 2012 book, "Dark Days and Bright Nights" a wonderful original compilation of poems, quotes, & photography. I am currently attending, the Joie Landeux acting studio in San Francisco, Ca. My love for acting, reciting poetry, and capturing an array of beauty with my camera, will incessantly propel performances and my original media projects onto screens & out of speakers large and small.

Leilani: Tell us about your book project
EM: Dark Days and Bright Nights is the awesome photo-shop free and influenced free reading experience of deep compilation of all my written creations from poems of romance, intense intimacy, being spiritual, and having a particular consciousness to self derived quotes, and my photography of animals, views, people, nature, skies, architecturally unique buildings and sculptures.

Leilani: What inspired you to write?
EM: The art of story telling ignited my fire to write, I enjoyed listening to my family's and friends super detailed & descriptive stories of people, sports, racism, personal & collective triumph, exercising ones faith in God, and so much more, so much, I promised myself to be that good of a story teller as well. The stories I heard made me laugh, cry, feel anger, relief, hope, love, admiration's, I even learned a lesson, identified the moral of the topic, and was intensely entertained.

Leilani: How long have yo been writing?
EM: I have been writing for 14 years.

Leilani: Who has inspired your writing? Explain
EM: My mother wrote very well and influenced me to put "it" on paper " thank you Mama Goldie. I picked up writing poems while taking a bus ride from Hayward to Oakland in 1997. I was compelled to describe my thoughts, concerns, desires, dreams and where I had been in a clever, concise and colorful manner.

Leilani: We also understand that you act, tell us about that and how you got started?
EM: I got started acting by first performing my spoken word/poems at open mic here in the bay area. It was standing and delivering my material with major emotions and conviction in front of few to being in front of many pairs of eyes not fearing responses or looks. I figured I could read anything in front of anybody or any camera. In 1999 I moved to Manhattan Beach then to Hollywood, Ca. to pursue an acting career, doing extra work, taking cold reading, acting classes, working at night at restaurants, clubs and hotels. A friend/ actress heard me recite and featured me along as the poet of the evening at a film production fundraiser at the Barfly on Sunset 2001. I was then offered a radio spot to read a public service announcement for "date rape prevention" for the department of health and welfare in Idaho. This voice over Job was a direct result from my performance that night. Upon my return to the Oakland, I've performed local plays at various theaters in the Bay Area. Completing 8 shows, a TV appearance on KCSM Ch.17 performing a clip of the play, I starred in as the lead male "Eric Summitt" in Denise M. Harris's "s Sweet Bye- Bye which showed at the Berkeley Rep Theater 9/18/11 - 10/16/11.

Leilani: What else are you interested in doing? Explain
EM: I'm also interested in film making, movie & Tv script writing, opening a talent agency, and a movie house/bar here in the Bay Area.

Leilani: What message are you giving readers with your book?
EM: The message I'm giving with my book is be alert and open to God, life, people, relationships, karma, good intentions and “DO” right as much as you can, be grateful and enjoy breathing.

Leilani: What keeps you grounded?
EM: Being a father, companion, friend, playing sports, praying, helping my people, laughing hard, meditation, being humble and taking good care of myself keeps me grounded.

Leilani: What are you currently working on? Any current projects?
EM: I'm only completing this writing project, and trying to obtain a talent agent.

Leilani: When will your project be released and whats the name of your project?
EM: My book DARK DAYS AND BRIGHT NIGHTS (poetry of pictures & pictures of poetry) will be released in mid January 2012.

Leilani: If folks want to reach you or keep updated with what you’re doing, where do they go? Any site(s)?
EM: I can be reached on FB (Face Book) Elisha Butler IV my profile page will be the best way to stay tuned!
